Start Skyros 2021
Skyros 2021 · 9. October 2021
We have arrived! For the 5th time in Greece, for the 4th time in Skyros!
It was still a bit early when we met at 5:25 am on Saturday at Weinfelden train station. A little tired, but with our suitcases packed and full of anticipation for a week with many new encounters, good experiences and teamwork, we set off in the direction of Skyros. An intensive day of travelling lay ahead of us. By plane, car and ferry we reached the island of Skyros after 15 hours. Däni and Athanasios welcomed us at the port of Skyros. Now the group of 17 people is complete. The two of them had already spent the last three days on the island coordinating our work for the week. They also received the donations from Adi, our transporter. A big thank you to Adi! We appreciate your service very much. After a short stop in our two accommodations, we enjoyed a first dinner together. We ended the day in a cosy atmosphere.
Highlight from Michaela
My two highlights of the day were lunch by the sea and the ferry ride. The car suddenly stopped at the side of the road and the driver pointed to four tables standing on an empty place directly at the sea. His comment was: “Time for lunch!”. He had booked us in advance at this snack bar, which had set up just for us by the sea. The weather was a bit windy, but beautiful, and we enjoyed our first Greek meal. From there, we continued by car to Kymi to the ferry port. On the ferry we had time to get to know each other. While some played UNO, others lingered on deck chatting or just enjoying the view. Suddenly, a couple of dolphins appeared and accompanied the ship for a short time.
It was nice to arrive safely in Skyros!
